Middleham Castle & Hawes

Yesterday we went to Middleham Castle, the childhood home of King Richard III

The Great Hall

View of the Dales from the top of the Keep

The town of Middleham

We had lovely steak & ale pies for lunch at this pub

After Middleham, we went out to Hawes, home of the Wensleydale Creamery. We tried every kind of cheese in the creamery shop, had tea & cake, then walked it off with a stroll around Hawes.

The main road in Hawes--3 pubs in a row!

This grocery store was lovely--lots of local and hard-to-find things

The Yorkshire Dales Countryside Museum is housed in this old station building (the train is part of the museum, and the tracks stop just at the end of the train)

Happy Early May Bank Holiday Weekend!

  1. Thank you for all the great pictures, I now need to pop over to Trader Joe's for some Stilton. I really miss England!
