27 Months

George is 27 months old today!
Kirkstall Abbey

We went down to London for a long weekend earlier this month for my Euromasters 10 year reunion--I can't believe it's been 10 years since I first came to England!

He woke up from a nap and was in a great mood!

Our hotel was in Kensington/Notting Hill area and our street looked very typically London

Hyde Park

Prince Albert Memorial in Hyde Park

Victoria & Albert Museum

Inner courtyard at V&A

We went to the Pink Floyd exhibition

There was an airship suspended from the ceiling in this room and George was fascinated!

The end of the exhibition had this room with a 360-degree screen playing performances with light effects--George loved it!

We had dinner at Honest Burgers, a London-area chain that I really hope will open some locations up north--it was so delicious, their rosemary chips were incredible, and they do the cutest little kids' burger!

Westminster Abbey

Houses of Parliament and Big Ben

We took a ride on the Thames to Greenwich

Greenwich Market

View of the London skyline from Greenwich

The Royal Observatory--the people are standing on the Meridian line!

On Sunday morning, we went to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground in Hyde Park--they have a great under-3's area!

Oxford Street

Selfridges still has a lot of the original features--it's such a gorgeous building!
We also went to Hamley's toy store, the London-equivalent of New York's FAO Schwartz. The fifth floor has these amazing Lego creations:

The Royal Wedding in Lego!

This month we replaced our very well-loved, worn out sofa with this lovely, much more supportive sofa from Ikea. It's taller and narrower, so we have more room to store George's toys at the side, and it's very comfortable!

Biscuit loves it, too! She's taken to sleeping across the top and on the arms.
George loves crunching through the leaves!

We're already 1/4 of the way through age 2! George is changing so much lately--not just month to month or week to week, but it feels like even day to day! His speech is amazing--he's always saying new words that I didn't realise he knew, and he repeats whatever we say (must watch what I say in front of him!).We also had our annual family photos taken last week--the top photo is a little sneak peek!

Last week we had George's last visit with the NHS Early Start team, the 27 month developmental review. They're the ones we've been seeing since he was born--we can still go to them for weigh-ins or advice if needed until he's 5, but we're now officially done with the required visits in his little red health record book. He's doing well, developmentally--he's mastered all of the speech, problem solving & fine motor skills on the list, and scored about average on gross motor skills. He's 84 cm (33 in) and 13.17kg (29 lbs), and his clothing size varies a lot from brand to brand--the other day he was wearing 1 1/2-2yr trousers, a 3 yr turtleneck onesie, and a 2T sweater!

Firsts this month:
First visit to Hyde Park
First Thames boat ride
First visit to Hamley's toy store
